We live in Southern Ontario, Canada and love the outdoors. The great sunshine we have enjoyed this past week has contributed to my longing for summer (even though it is still cool here). I grew up camping and visiting cottages (or camps as many vacation homes are called in Northern Ontario) all around our great province. Our country has hundreds of national and provincial parks, as well as many great vacation destinations.
We wanted our children to have these experiences and began to camp when the kids were small. Some of the great beaches of Ontario are where I get inspiration for decorating our home. Yes, we do have cold and snowy winters, but I think that is one of the reasons I so look forward to and appreciate summer. Today, I would like to share three of our great Ontario beach destinations with you.
One of our favourite spots for a day trip with the cousins, aunt and uncle, some lawnchairs and a cooler is Wasaga Beach on beautiful Nottawasaga Bay, part of Georgian Bay. Wasaga Beach is the longest fresh water beach in the world. White sandy beaches stretching for 14 km (8.7 miles). We are very fortunate to take a less busy weekday and make a day of it at Wasaga.
Last year we discovered The Pinery Provincial Park at Grand Bend on beautiful Lake Huron. A great spot for camping!
Famous for it's beach and activity, further north on Lake Huron is Sauble Beach. Sauble is a busy, hopping place each summer.
One of the things I enjoy about other blogs, besides decorating of course, is sharing in the beauty of your local areas and travels. I hope you enjoyed seeing a few of our favourites. Thanks for stopping by.
